Little Scare

So we had a little scare last night. I know that some extra discharge is considered normal. Hasn't really been an issue. But ever since the hockey game (so much excitement, jumping up and down--trying to contain myself!) I noticed a little more than what is normal the past few weeks. That was Tuesday night. Last night, I got home from school, and (yes, prolly TMI, but oh well)... major wetness going on. I knew I hadn't peed myself (hehe) so I started to freak out. There wasn't any blood. And it wasn't mucusy. It was just wetness. So I called my doctor just to be safe. Now, this was 4:30 when I called. They close at 5. It takes 25 minutes to get there...They told me to come down just to check things out. They said it could just be nothing, or it could have been my water breaking, which at 25 1/2 weeks is NOT a good thing! We headed down, of course hitting every stinking red light there was! They stayed open late just to see me. I feel so special. But, it eased my fears. They said it was nothing. They think its just prolly gonna be like that from here out. I can handle that, as long as I know that is normal! They took swabs to make sure it wasn't an infection of any kind. And that came back negative. No water breaking. And the heartbeat was lower, but still in the normal range. The doc said the baby might have been "sleeping" which would make sence cause he's normally pretty quiet around that time. I didn't realize the HB changed so much! Makes sense though!

All in all, everything is good. He's moving a lot. HB is good. I'm measuring big, but they aren't concerned about it. So whew. Crisis adverted! :)

24 week Dr. Appt

Wel, things are looking good! We definately have an active little boy on our hands! He still wouldn't sit still for the ultrasound. He has flipped positions, so his head is now down, so that is good. His heart rate was 154 bpm so perfectly normal! Dr. Schmagel says he is growing well, and things look great! My only concern is that since his father likes UFC fighting so much, he has already decided he wants to be a UFC fighter! The other night he was kicking me, punching me, and headbutting me all at the same time!! Go figure!!

24 weeks

16 more week to go!! The little guy has been as active as ever! The kicks are getting stronger each day! I can't wait to see Little Landon Tuesday! We have our 24 weeks appt Tuesday morning, and we are getting another ultrasound. They didn't get all the measurements they wanted the last time because he wouldn't cooperate, so we get to have another one. I am not going to complain...I am excited to get to see our little one again!! We are hoping to get the 3D ultrasound as well if the baby will cooperate.

Can't wait untill Tuesday!!!

23 weeks down...17 more to go

So the little guy has officially begun kicking my bladder! I thought I was going to pee the bed last night!!! He really doesn't like it when I roll over to switch which side I'm laying on at night!

We had to make an "adjustment" to our bed. It sits about waist high. You literally have to "jump" to get into bed. Well, the box springs have come off because I can't climb into bed anymore! It hurts to much!! Little weird sleeping so close to the ground again, but for good reasons!

I have my next appt on the 27th to do another ultrasound and hopefully a 3D one this time too!!!

Cord Blood

Do we? Or Don't we?

We really want to bank the baby's cord blood... but cost is the issue. The arguement we have...how do you put a price on the future of your child? With so many diseases/illnesses that can already be treated with cord blood, and more emerging everday, how can we not! Especially with our history! Hodgkin's is one of the diseases that can be treated, as is lupis/arthritis. I have not been diagnosed with lupis, but my mom and aunt have been, and its hereditary. Cost wise, it is approx $2000 up front just to bank the cord blood. It is $150 a year to store the blood (which is very reasonable in our eyes)... or $$$ upfront for 25 years of storage. You save almost $900 by paying upfront for 25 years! Wow. Who knew! This wouldn't even be an issue if I wasn't taking off 3 months next school unpaid... makes me reconsider, but yet I want that time with my son.

GRRRR... i wish Money grew on trees

Progress

We had 2 baby showers this past weekend back in Illinois. We did one with Shaun's family, and one with the Endress clan. We got a TON of stuff!! The "big" things we got were the stroller/car seat combo from Shaun's parents, and a crib from my parents. We managed to fit everything in the car to come home. How? Not quite sure, but we did! There wasn't much room for anything else! We had things crammed into spaces I didn't know exsisted! When we unpacked everything from the car, we couldn't believe how much stuff we had in it! It is now taking over the living room. Shaun put the crib together last night, so now we can start moving things into the nursery. We just need to get a dresser!

Lindsey gave us a TON of newborn clothes! I'm so excited that we get to share Amare's stuff and that Landon and Amare will be 10 months apart. Give it a couple years and they are going to go crazy together! We can't wait!!

We were able to babysit Amare for a couple of hours on Thursday, and that was so much fun! He is such a happy baby! Friday we spent with his mom and sister, and with my parents shopping. Saturday we spent with Shaun's family. i don't think I put Amare down, except when I had to share him at the shower! haha I have officially spoiled him in the 3 days I saw him! I can't wait to see him again this summer!

It's a BOY!!!

Doc appt this morning went well. The ultrasound took about 45 minutes. The tech was trying so hard to get all the measurements she needed, and the baby was not cooperating! He had most of his body turned at an odd angle, so we're going to go back for another ultrasound in 4 weeks to get some better measurements. She said everything was looking great though! The heartbeat was 158 beats per minute. We even got to hear the heartbeat today! AMAZING!!! Throughout the ultrasound, she kept trying to see if the baby would cooperate and show us "the goods".... not so much. It wasn't until the very end that he finally gave her a "butt shot" and had his legs apart. She said she was 80% sure it was a boy. After another look, she smiled and said, "Ok, 90%". She said she will never say 100% because there is always room for error... but when you look at the pics, there is no mistaking it! :)

So there you have it.... Landon David Robert is expected August 14, 2010. We can't wait to meet him!!!
